Handmade Pricing & Profit Workbook

Model what one item costs, then compare prices after selling fees.

Enter materials, batch labor, packaging and overhead. Compare Etsy with one other sales channel using editable percentage and fixed fees. See the price for your target margin, break-even price and modeled profit at your current price. Optional wholesale margin and retail multiplier are included.

Rendered workbook cells from a fictional candle example showing cost per item and target prices for two channels. Not an application screenshot.

A fictional candle example

Materials 4.0578, labor 2.25, packaging 0.85 and overhead 0.50 give a modeled item cost of 7.6578.

With the example’s editable fees and shipping assumptions, a 40% margin after fees gives a modeled item price of 17.2778. These are fictional inputs, not recommended prices.

Before you buy

Room for 100 materials and 25 material lines per product. Duplicate the Product sheet for another product. Supported units: g, kg, oz and lb by weight; ml and l; each and dozen. No cups, fluid ounces or mass-to-volume conversion.

The Etsy column starts with US fee assumptions checked in November 2026; edit them for your account. The model assumes one item per order and shipping charged covers the postage paid. Sales tax, income tax, currency conversion, Etsy Ads and shipping labels are not automatically included. This is a planning file, not sales, stock or accounting software.

Calculations checked in Apple Numbers 14.2 and LibreOffice Calc. Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets have not been tested. Numbers does not enforce sheet protection: take care not to overwrite formulas. Use one currency throughout. No customization or ongoing-update service is included.
